Some schools don't want strangers in their canteens while others greet them with enthusiasm. The school students paid no attention to me when I asked directions to the canteen. If you had imagined that the school's canteen is located within the school, you'd be wrong. This one is located on the first floor of the dormitory. The dormitory walls haven't been repainted for ages, and the doors probably remember the times of my grandfathers' childhood. The canteen welcomed me loudly: the dinner lady was arguing with school kids in a really inappropriate manner, so I decided to stand in the queue with my tray and wait for my dose of being shouted at. It appears however that newcomers are served in a completely different way: no rudeness or shouting. I decided to have a fresh cabbage soup. After ordering, I sat at the long table and began eating my lunch. Through the window one can view a skyscraper panorama, and a colourful carpet hanging in the view of visitors. After looking around I came to the conclusion that there are two dominant colours in the canteen: faded yellow and a darkened tree shade as wooden partitions divide the whole canteen into three parts. After lunch I went to put my empty dishes next to the special window. There I found a sink with an old and probably non-working hand dryer. I was a child the last time I saw such a model. Food: Fresh cabbage soup resembles a home made meal. There was a lot of cabbage, potatoes and other ingredients. Even the half portion was enough to make me feel full. Compote: Pink berry compote reminded me of summer, it tasted fresh. On the bottom of the glass I found some currants. Lunch price: 2,03 Lt. |
